WhatsApp Chat Filter: With the introduction of the chat filter in the WhatsApp Business app in 2018, the meta-owned popular messaging app WhatsApp is now working to launch a feature similar to its regular app.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, the meta-owned messaging app is working to bring chat filters into standard WhatsApp accounts as well.
A screen showing the development features shared by the blog site shows that with future updates, users of WhatsApp’s standard app will be able to sort through their chats by applying one of four filters – unread chats, contacts, non-contacts and groups.
According to the report, these filters are similar to the filters currently available in WhatsApp’s Business app. Clearly, the screenshot does not indicate that the company is planning any major changes to the user interface of its standard app and WhatsApp Business app in terms of chat filters.
In WhatsApp’s Business app, a chat filter is available in the search bar above the Chat tab. In the company’s standard app, the company will place the chat filters at the top right outside the search bar.
In addition, the messaging app will always have these chat filters available in its standard app. “Standard WhatsApp accounts will be able to use the same feature in future updates to the app, but there’s another difference: the filter button will always be visible when you’re not searching for chats and messages,” the blog site noted. .
As far as availability is concerned, this feature is under development and it will be some time before beta users of the company’s Android and iOS-based apps will be able to access it.
