The EY 2022 Work Reimagined survey found that 36 percent of employer respondents said they want employees to return to office five days a week.

The survey polled more than 1,500 business leaders and more than 17,000 employees in 22 countries and 26 industrial sectors.

The survey shows that as many countries have emerged from the Covid-19 epidemic, employees have had a significant impact on their employers, and their ‘wish lists’ from potential employers are changing.

“Employees across India now have more control over the job market, with more than half of respondents saying they may leave the job in the next 12 months – driven by a desire for flexibility amid higher gross wages, better career opportunities and rising inflation, a shrinking labor market and resilience. Yura India, Partner and India Leader, Workforce Advisory Services, Anurag Malik, said the survey found that changes in the labor market over the past year have shifted the balance of power in favor of workers.

“As employers shift to more flexible work alternative gears, they need to invest in more – including higher pay and overall brand building of the company,” Malik said.

Flexible work arrangements that were the biggest reason for employees to run according to last year’s survey – now less drivers because many are already working for companies that offer some form of flexibility, he added.
