Vivek Agnihotri grossed Rs 252.65 crore at the domestic box office and Rs 42.25 crore at the international box office during his lifetime. The film grossed a total of Rs 340.16 crore at the worldwide box office.
Singapore, however, banned the film because it was outside the city-state film classification guidelines, according to PTI. “The film’s classification will be rejected for its provocative and one-sided portrayal of Muslims and its persecution of Hindus in the ongoing conflict in Kashmir,” the authorities were quoted as saying.
They added, “These presentations have the potential to create animosity between different communities and disrupt social cohesion and religious harmony in our multinational and multi-religious society.”
Based on interviews with first generation victims, the film covers the humanitarian suffering endured by the Kashmiri Pandit community, which eventually led to their emigration in 1990. It stars Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, Chinmoy Mandlekar, Bhasha Sumbali and Darshan Kumar. In the lead role.
The film is bankrolled by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi under the banner of G Studio, Abhishek Agarwal Arts and IAMBuddha.
