The Indian tablet market grew 68% in the March 2022 quarter; Lenovo leads

The tablet market in India grew 68 percent year-on-year in the first quarter ending March 2022, leading the Lenovo chart, according to a cybermedia research report released on Monday.

According to the report, tablet shipments are likely to register a healthy 10-12 percent increase in 2022.
4G tablets grew 74 percent year-over-year in the reported quarter.

“Driven by epidemics and the constant rise and fall of COVID-19 cases, many sectors survive with hybrid or remote work. It continues to fuel tablet adoption, e-learning and content usage.

Cybermedia Research (CMR) Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group Menaka Kumari said, “The education and healthcare sectors have contributed to the overall development of the tablet market in India.

Tablet shipments with 8-inch displays make up 26 per cent of the total shipments in the Indian market, while tablets with 10-inch and larger displays account for 61 per cent of shipments.

“Lenovo maintains its first position in the region, driven primarily by its commercial business and retail market. The Lenovo Tab M8 (HD) (Wi-Fi + 4G) 2GB 32GB series has gained 32 percent market share, primarily in terms of value (Rs 7,000-25,000). In the first quarter of 2022, Lenovo shipments recorded a significant growth of 48 percent (YoY) per year, ”the report said.

Apple and Samsung each registered 22 percent market share, followed by Realme and Lava in the March 2022 quarter.
Kumari said the tablet market in India is going to be strong with the growing availability of 5G-enabled tablets, as well as new market entrants like Xiaomi’s Pad 5.

“With other potential tablet marketers, such as OPPO, Vivo and OnePlus, consumers have more choice in the Android tablet market than ever before. From an enterprise perspective, the commercial economy and the public sector will continue to gain strength due to the traction of the digital economy and e-governance, ”he added.
