Reliance Industries (RIL), which sells petrol and diesel at more than 160 fuel outlets across Gujarat, is facing problems in the face of rising international crude prices. In fact, some pump states have been forced to suspend sales temporarily.

A dealer of RIL in Ahmedabad, on condition of anonymity, confirmed that sales from Jio-BP petrol stations have been temporarily suspended since Sunday evening. However, in a statement on Monday, a spokesperson for Jio-BP said, “As we navigate this unprecedented scenario of volatile fuel prices, Jio-BP is committed to fulfilling the brand’s promise to bring a dynamic future to Indian consumers. Any speculation about the Jio-BP shutdown is baseless. “

Arvind Thakkar, president of the Federation of Gujarat Petroleum Dealers Association, said that not only dealers of RIL but also more than 1,600 dealers of two other private companies – Naira Energy and Shell – have been facing irregular supply in the last few days. (FGPDA). According to Thackeray, if the two companies decide to stop selling from their retail outlets, the state could see long lines at state-owned Indian Oil (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) petrol pumps. The future

Among the three state-owned companies, dealers of HPCL and BPCL are also facing one-day delays in petrol and diesel supply, he added. Private and state-owned companies have about 4,500 petrol pumps in Gujarat. Gujarat consumes about 550 million liters of diesel and 250 million liters of petrol per month. The current price of diesel in Gujarat is Rs 99.50 per liter, Thackeray said. “Petroleum companies cannot afford to sell at this rate because they are losing Rs 25 per liter for diesel alone.”

Sources in Nayara Energy said that despite the current difficult situation, the company is trying to continue supplying all its fuel to traders across the country, not just in Gujarat. As the fastest growing private fuel station network in India, Nayara Energy has more than 6,500 petrol pumps and more than 1,200 pumps in India at various stages of launch. The company plans to build a network of more than 8,200 petrol pumps by 2024, covering national and state highways as well as rural areas.

RIL, led by Mukesh Ambani, has a nationwide network of about 1,400 pumps. Shell has about 200 pumps in India.
