Japanese auto marker Honda unveils Citi E: HIV sedan; The launch is scheduled for next month

Japan’s automaker Honda Cars on Thursday unveiled its new offer for the Indian market – the Citi E: HIV sedan, marking its entry into the country’s mainstream powerful hybrid electric vehicle segment.

The company, which is present in India through a wholly owned subsidiary, has started booking the model and plans to launch it next month.

The model, according to the company, will include an extension of its City Model range, a self-charging two-motor powerful hybrid system coupled with a 1.5-liter petrol engine, maximum power of 126 PS and 26.5 km of fuel efficiency per liter. .

The model features a wide-angle, far-reaching detection system with a high-powered front camera with various safety features to alert the driver to scan the road ahead and reduce the risk of accidents and in some cases intervene to avoid collisions. Or reduce its intensity.

In an interview with PTI, Takuya Tsumura, newly-appointed President and CEO of Honda Cars India, noted that the introduction of the model marked the beginning of the company’s journey towards introducing a new era of electrified models in the country.

“We are committed to electric vehicles and global carbon neutrality by 2050. This is the direction of the company. In India we are starting with CTE: HIV and of course based on Honda’s direction we will see what best solution we can bring. , “He said.

Honda plans to launch 30 EV models worldwide by 2030, with an annual output of more than 2 million units. Auto Major aims to invest about 40 40 billion over the next 10 years in the EV space.

“City E: HIV is the result of our continued commitment to offering a product with reliable data, including the latest security measures and which meets future environmental challenges,” Sumura said.

The model is consistent with Honda Global’s vision for realizing carbon neutrality and zero collision fatalities by 2050, he added.

“We are all well aware of the environmental challenges of global warming and emissions. As a socially responsible enterprise, Honda is aiming to sell two-thirds of global sales by 2030 through electric models such as hybrid fuel cell cars and battery electric cars.” Sumura said.

And by 2040, the company aims to achieve 100 percent conversion to EVs and fuel cell vehicles worldwide, he added.

The fuel economy of the locally produced model is 40 percent to 45 percent higher than the petrol version, he added.

Tsumura said that Auto Major aims to introduce Honda sensing technology in all future new model launches in the country.

E: HIV, a self-charging hybrid electric car, will certainly prove to be a game changer, as it does not require a separate charging infrastructure or it does not suffer from range issues, he noted.

The model has multi-mode drive options – including EV drive mode, hybrid drive mode and engine drive mode and regeneration mode during downtime.

Honda Sensing Safety features include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Auto High-Beam.

The sedan has 37 integrated features that now work with smart watch devices in addition to the existing integration with Alexa and OK Google.

The model will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan
