The government has taken this step as taxpayers are facing technical glitches in the GST portal and has directed Infosys to resolve the issue expeditiously.
The CBIC tweeted, “The government has instructed Infosys for a preliminary solution. The technical team is working to provide GSTR-2B and is automatically revising the populated GSTR-3B as soon as possible.”
GSTR-2B is an automated draft input tax credit (ITC) statement that is available to each GST registered firm based on the information provided by the suppliers in their respective GSTR-1 sales return form.
Businesses often receive their GSTR-2B statement on the 12th of the following month, which allows them to make ITC claims at the time of tax payment and at the time of filing GSTR-3B.
For different types of taxpayers, GSTR-3B is filed on a fixed basis between 20th, 22nd and 24th of each month.
“Considering the problems that taxpayers are facing in filing their GSTR-3B for the month of April 2022, a proposal to extend the GSTR-3B filing deadline for April 2022 is under active consideration,” CBIC tweeted.
