College of Art Ambedkar University started admission as a part of DU teachers

In a letter to Delhi University (DU) Academics for Action and Development Yogesh Singh, the Vice Chancellor (VC) sought his intervention after the College of Art started its admission process as part of Ambedkar University.
The College of Art offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in fine arts.
In a notification issued on May 11, Suresh Babu, Dean-Student Service of Ambedkar University, said that the admission process for various programs offered by the College of Art for the academic year 2022-2023 will be conducted as a part of Ambedkar University. , Delhi.
In a letter, 11 teachers, including members of DU’s executive council and academic council, said such an “unfortunate move” by Ambedkar University was a violation of Delhi University’s rules and regulations. The letter claimed that the move by Ambedkar University violated the decision of the executive council which had duly rejected the de-affiliation of the College of Arts from Delhi University. “It should be noted that the lieutenant governor has ruled that any such move towards unification is subject to the affiliation of the College of Arts, Delhi University,” the letter said.
It comes amid an ongoing dispute between the Delhi University and the Delhi government over the affiliation of the Art College. In March last year, the Delhi government announced the affiliation of the College of Art with Ambedkar University as the college was facing various problems.
Ambedkar University is funded by the Government of Delhi.
Due to affiliation issues, he could not get admission in the art college in the last academic year.
DU Academic Council member Alok Pandey said Ambedkar University held a meeting recently where they announced that admission to the College of Art would start as part of Ambedkar University.
DU VC Yogesh Singh said his university has asked the College of Art for admission as part of Delhi University. “I am not aware of it (the college which started admission under Ambedkar University). However, we have asked the College of Arts to conduct it as part of Delhi University. We are waiting, ”he said.
The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has urged the Delhi government not to transfer or close the College of Art in the name of amalgamating or relocating to Ambedkar University and to withdraw the latest admission notification on May 11 along with all previous orders.
In April, DU asked the College of Arts to begin the admission process and informed the Institute that it would not be affiliated with the University. The lieutenant governor’s office had earlier given policy approval to merge the College of Art with Ambedkar University, subject to its affiliation with the DU.
However, the executive council of Delhi University, its apex decision-making body, has refused to affiliate the college.
