Ashani Beyani, daughter of teenager Beyani, has resigned as managing director of Future

Ashni Beyani, daughter of Kishore Beyani, chairman of Future Group, has resigned as managing director of Future Consumer Limited (FCL).

Ashani Biyani’s resignation has been accepted by the board.

However, he will remain on the board and will serve as the company’s non-executive director, a regulatory filing from FCL said.

The board also appointed Samson Samuel as the company’s chief executive officer, effective May 12.

“Mrs. Ashani Biani informed the company that she had resigned … due to her personal limitations and challenges she was unable to devote the necessary time and attention to the company,” the company said.

Earlier this month, Adhiraj Harish, an independent director of FCL, resigned from the company’s board.

FCL is the FMCG branch of Future Group, led by Kishore Biyani, and was part of 19 companies that were to be transferred to Reliance Retail as part of the Rs 24,713 crore deal announced in August 2020.

Reliance Industries Ltd, led by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, canceled the deal last month.

Subsequently, boards and other levels of people at several Future Group companies emigrated.

Last week, Rakesh Beyani, managing director of Future Retail, resigned, while officials, including the company secretary of the indebted firm, resigned.

The company, a flagship firm of the Future Group led by Kishore Biyani, is now facing a bankruptcy petition filed by its creditors before the National Company Law Tribunal.
